Together, we can create a new space for the people and organisations that make our city great.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far!
People’s Property Portfolio (PPP) is a Community Benefit Society based, borne out of, and deeply rooted, in Bradford. We believe that our city’s heritage buildings and vital cultural and social spaces should serve the people who value and use them.
When we collectively own, build and care for the spaces that matter to us we create lasting resilience, shared prosperity, and a stronger future for Bradford.
These spaces can be ours. For good.
PPP took ownership 17–21 Chapel Street in 2025 with plans to lovingly restore and reinvigorate the building.
For decades, the building was a home for grassroot arts, activism and organising. Your investment is vital to creating a space where 17-21 Chapel Street can once again serve the community as a creative and community space, where local creatives and socially-minded organisations can thrive.
When 17-21 Chapel Street reopens it will be a home to artists studios, offices, flexible workspaces, and an events and rehearsal space. The building will be a creative engine for Bradford and a space where community and cultural organisations work together to deepen their impact in the city.
A significant amount of refurbishment is required to make 17-21 Chapel Street, a Grade II listed building, fit for use again. We can make that vision a reality with your investment.
Community Shares offer you a unique opportunity to invest directly in this vision to help make it a reality.
By investing you become a member and co‑owner of PPP. Being a member of PPP means having an important role in defining the direction of the organisation, participating in the democratic processes of our CBS, and helping us deliver our ambition.

As a Community Benefit Society, any surplus that is generated from operating the building will be re-invested back into the organisation. Reinvesting profit back into the organisation means PPP can continue to grow, expand and deliver more benefit locally.
Community Share investments are vital to provide early-stage working capital while major capital works are designed, funded and delivered.
Share investments will not only enable PPP to restore an important historic building in the heart of Bradford, it will also help lay the foundations for a long‑term community-owned portfolio of buildings to keep essential cultural and community spaces affordable, rooted in place, and protected for future generations.
We know Bradford’s creative and community sectors deserve secure, high-quality spaces to do their vital work for our city. We’ve identified these needs through consultation, needs analyses of workspace in Bradford, and working with our stakeholders.
Over five years we’ve been developing our business plan, securing funds for development, and winning the support of local people and stakeholders.
In 2026 we secured both planning permission and listed building consent for 17-21 Chapel Street and our financial modelling and business planning presents a robust vision for the future of this building. This building is the People’s Property Portfolio’s first building. Together, we can take ownership of our own future.
Community shares are a way for people to invest in organisations that serve a community purpose. They are withdrawable shares that cannot be sold, traded or transferred, unlike shares in a typical company.
All members have one vote, regardless of how many shares they hold. The Board will not pay interest on share investment. For ethical and business practice reasons, all surpluses will be re-invested into People’s Property Portfolio or used to repay the share capital of investors. Members may apply to withdraw their investment in the future, subject to the Board’s discretion and the Society’s financial position.
